The 2022 Wairarapa Balloon Festival is the must-see family fun event of the year, taking place over Easter, from 14th –18th April.


Be sure to welcome the 20-strong Hot Air Balloons during this 5 day Wairarapa wide event, with balloonist competitions, sky high displays, and joyful and vibrant entertainment.

Saturday 16th April - Night Glow

Don’t miss the pinnacle event!! The 2022 Glow will be bigger and brighter than ever before, with 5 hours of action-packed entertainment. See a parachutist jump out of a hot air balloon, watch the laser light displays and drone racing, soak up the live music and entertainment from the Shenanigans, Dragonfly and top local acts, and feast on the delicious range of food and beverages from over 40 food trucks. Then, see the line up of balloons light up the night to music, providing a spectacular finale.

After something special, The Screening Room have put together some glorious picnic hampers which can be collected on the night. For more details see 'Food glorious food' page.


The 2022 Night Glow promises to be a joyful and vibrant extravaganza that’s not to be missed.


Tickets are on sale now, including family passes for 2 adults and up to 3 children.

Please note: Balloons may inflate at any time during the evening depending on weather conditions.  Postponement date scheduled for Sunday 17th April.


Sunday 17th April

Meander over Martinborough – from 6.30am Town Square FREE ENTRY
Be sure to come and chat with the pilot and crew of your favourite balloon.

Monday 18th April

Farewell Flight – from 6.30am, location TBC Masterton FREE ENTRY
Pilots and their balloons will take off for the last time in the festival’s finale flight.
